We are delighted to announce that Lavinia De Souza, one of our Optometrist here at Whitby & Co Optician, has become a Freeman of the City of London. 

Following the Joining and Welcoming Ceremony at the Guildhall, Lavinia was awarded the title of Freeman, recognising Lavinia’s commitment to optometry and excellence in her field. 

The formal ceremony took place, in the presence of her family and friends. During which, Lavinia was extended the hand of fellowship by the Clerk to the Chamberlain of the City of London.

Lavinia is already honoured as a Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Spectacle Makers. Her latest title is one of the oldest traditional ceremonies in existence, dating back to 1237.

Lavinia has been with Whitby & Co. Optician as an optometrist since 2006 and continues to teach at the Institute of Optometry and City University.
