Lavinia De Souza – Freeman of the City of London

We are delighted to announce that Lavinia De Souza, Optometrist at Whitby & Co, has become a Freeman of the City of London. Following a ceremony at the Guildhall, Lavinia was awarded the title of Freeman, recognising Lavinia’s commitment to optometry and excellence in her field. 

A formal ceremony was held at Guildhall, where Lavinia was extended the hand of fellowship by Clerk to the Chamberlain of the City of London, in the presence of her family and friends.

Already honoured as a Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Spectacle Makers, Lavinia’s latest title is one of the oldest traditional ceremonies in existence, dating back to 1237.

Lavinia has been with Whitby & Co an as optometrist for over 10 years and also teaches at the Institute of Optometry and City University.
